Ingredients:

three cups (390 grams) all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 cup (227 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature, 1 cup (200 grams) granulated white sugar, two huge eggs, 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract,

Directions:

With any big bowl, whisk flour along with salt, and baking soda. In another container, beat butter together with sugar until finally light and even by using an electric mixer (or by using a hand mixer). Beat for around three minutes. Pour out eggs and vanilla extract and then whip until mixture gets perfectly blended. Pour flour mixture to the bowl filled with butter-egg mixture and then roll it to produce a good dough. Cut the dough in half and then wrap each one half utilizing plastic wrap. Store in refrigerator for around one hour or right until dough becomes solid enough to work with

In the mean time, pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) then place rack within the middle of your oven. Set up two baking sheets by just covering each with parchment paper.

Get the first half of the refrigerated dough from the fridge and then over a properly floured surface, roll out the dough right up until it is inch in thickness (1 cm). Once you roll the dough, be sure that it will not cling in the work surface. By using a smoothly floured cookie cutter, trim dough into a lot of forms of your choice, and set cookies onto baking sheet. Put the baking sheets together with the unbaked cookies inside fridge for approximately 15 minutes to cool the dough. This could keep the cookies in their forms when they are baked inside the oven.

Note: For those who are not applying icing on their baked cookies, you may sprinkle the unbaked cookies with sparkling sugar.

Cook cookies inside pre-heated oven until eventually the edges begin appearing brown. It often calls for 8-10 minutes, depending on size. Carefully get from the oven and let them cool in baking sheet for several minutes. Move baking sheets to a wire rack to cool completely. Spread with royal icing, if preferred but make sure to wait for the royal icing to dry thoroughly just before chilling. Store cookies inside an airtight container among layers of parchment paper or wax paper and they will endure for several days.
