Shabu-Shabu

Shabu is Methamphetamine that increases alertness and energy but in high doses can cause euphoria. This is a prohibited drug that is most likely avoided but when you heard of Shabu-Shabu here in the Philippines, it doesn't mean a twin increase of alertness and energy, it is an indulging food that will surely boast your stamina for eating. 



Shabu-Shabu is one of the best things to prepare when you've just gotten home from a shopping day, exhausting hour at the gym, or even just a relaxing brisk walk. Try dropping by your nearest vegetable stall in the market where you can get everything you need for this simple and satisfying feast. Want to make it more sophisticated? Add fresh lobsters or prawns when you're in the mood to indulge even more.




You will need:


1 pack instant shabu-shabu mix in your chosen flavor


glass or egg noodles


assorted seafood balls


assorted vegetables (suggested: gabi, polonchay, spinach, cabbage, pechay, mushrooms, carrots, asparagus, broccoli)


4 whole eggs


Here's how:


Follow instructions and place shabu-shabu mix in a deep pot with a propane burner. Place noodles and assorted seafood balls into the pot. Surround with cleaned and evenly cut up portions of assorted favorite vegetables. Add eggs. Serve with sauce.


For the sauce: 


3 tablespoons Chinese BBQ sauce


1 cup prepared dashi stock


1/2 cup soy sauce


1 tablespoon chopped garlic


1 tablespoon chopped ginger


2 tablespoons chopped spring onions


1 tablespoon chopped chili


Mix all ingredients for the sauce and serve in individual containers for dipping.
