Were you aware that there is one diet plan that can actually make you live much longer? Have you ever heard of the Mediterranean diet? If not, here you will get to know more about the diet plan and how it can increase your lifespan by decreasing your cholesterol, decreasing the risk of heart related illnesses, and decreasing the risk of most other illnesses. These diseases are the most common health hazards that cause deaths around the world. The Mediterranean diet plan prevents these things from ever happening.

This is the diet plan of the people living along the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding areas. Extensive research and studies have uncovered that these individuals have extremely low chances of suffering from serious illnesses related to heart disease, Alzheimer's' and most cancers. They also enjoy the longest lifespan for adults. All of this is possible through the complex combination of elements within the diet.

The primary elements of the Mediterranean diet include plenty of vegetables and fruits along with beans and whole grains. In fact, the vast majority of elements that make up the Mediterranean diet are whole foods which have not been processed and are completely raw and natural as the earth gives them to us. Things like yogurt, which is full of bacteria and probiotics, or garlic which is shunned in the United States because of its odor, yet is full of healthy elements.

And while doctors in the United States would have you believe that any type of alcohol consumption is bad for you because of the carbs or the sugars, the reality is that wine is rich in antioxidants and other healthy elements. Part of the Mediterranean diet is regular consumption of wine; two glasses per night per min and one glass per evening for women. Wine is a vital element to avoiding the Western diets that have caused Americans to have a 72% obesity rate.

The large amounts of fat in the typical Western Diet causes high levels of acidity, plus everything is processed, and nothing is natural. This is where the Mediterranean Diet plan is different. More focus is put on grains in pasta, more fruits, nuts, legumes, vegetables, and olive oil. Cheese and fish are consumed moderately, and minute amounts of red meat are consumed. This is the healthiest way to live if you want to see old age.
