Planning And Cooking For Your Own Party

By Sofia Schneider

As much as we would all like to be Martha Stewart and do all the party essentials by ourselves, sometimes we simply have to give ourselves a break. Everyone may gain from an spare hand, even the most organized ones. So don't be embarrassed to ask for assistance, especially in the cooking department, where the food, the life of the party, is cooked to perfection.

If you are determined to fix and prepare for your invitees on your party, be prepared for the challenges it will bring. The hosting of the event, the crafting of the decorations, the planning of the activities, and the coordinating of each and everything on the list would fall onto your shoulders. Top that with the planning and the preparing of the menu and you probably won't have much free time on your hands left.

Determining the kind of party before anything else:

If you insist to be a hero and also cater your own party, you should specify first what kind of party you are having as your food menu will be based on this. A children's party will require kid-friendly food list. It means that you have to shy away from using intoxicant or spicy ingredients and any food that requires the use of a sharp knife to slice. A reunion party with your exercise and gym pals should include foods that are low fats and low calorie.

But whatever the sort of party you are having, you should always add diversity to your menu. Perhaps not all of your guests are meat-eaters, so you would be making all of them happy and content if you add a little vegetable fare for more options.

Make a budget for the banquet:

You wish to hold the best party in town, yes, but that doesn't automatically mean that you should go broke after the party. Don't be too tough on yourself and just established a limit to your budget before you go over board Count your guests and make an allowance, so you will still have extra food just in case someone crashes your party.

Just note that the amount you should fix should be reasonable. You need to still fix realistic budget even if you are aiming for practicality. In our current economic situation, all prices are climbing. Make sure your budget will still let you to purchase the needed ingredients. But even with the price raise, you can still do something to save on cost.

Search for the real steals:

If you want to look for a great deal, search your region for discounted deals. Local stores and bargain shops offer items that have reduced prices compared to your usual convenient shops. You can find the napkins, dinnerware, decorations, cutleries, and others, as well as some food ingredients, to be a little less expensive there. Go ahead, search the area for some great deals that will help you save budget.

Don't go too far, though. Stick to your tried and tested food ingredient label. Don't experiment on other brands of flavoring if your regular brand can give you the taste and quality you are looking for. You don't need to compromise quality over price.

Set a timeline:

Make certain that the days leading to the big event are ready. Begin the preparation for foods that call for long cooking. If it requires to be made a day or so earlier, allocate the needed time to get it done. Barbecues that need to be marinated overnight must be set the night ahead of the party.. Desserts that need to be served fresh should be prepared an hour before the main event.

Although it is challenging, catering for your own party shouldn't be totally difficult. Just keep in mind to observe the rules and most importantly, enjoy.

  2. Yes, it ain't easy but no one also said that it can't be done. Give yourself ample time to prepare, there must be no room for cramming. Go over your lists over and over to check if you've missed out on something.
