Traditionally, many cultures have used various herbal remedies for preventing and treating illnesses. Recent research suggests that some of these methods may have real medical benefits. Some studies even indicate that certain healthy spices can even be used for cancer prevention. Adding these to meals on a daily basis could really be worthwhile. However, please consult a doctor, as the FDA has not yet approved any of these to prevent, treat, or cure any ailment.



Soothe a sore throat and an upset stomach with sage. Improving memory and slowing the progression of Alzheimer's disease are also associated with sage. Drinking it as a tea is popular with some individuals. Others prefer to consume it with squash or walnuts.

Rosemary might help enhance alertness and make memory stronger. Some studies also indicate that it might even prevent meats from going bad. Potatoes, poultry, beef, onions, and citrus fruits taste great with rosemary.

Ease the pain of arthritis and other injuries with turmeric. In some countries, it is applied to wounds, in order to speed the healing process. It is also said to help with colds and other breathing issues. Recent cancer research indicates that in might slow down the growth of tumors as well. Pair it with garlic, cumin, and other ingredients commonly found in curry powder.

Rev up metabolism with chili pepper. While no one is quite sure if it leads to long lasting weight loss, it certainly couldn't hurt, assuming there is no allergy present. Traditionally, it has been prepared with rice dishes.Tomatoes, garlic and shellfish are a few foods that also taste great with saffron. It is also consumed as a tea and in pill form by some individuals.

Preventing breast cancer may be achieved by adding a bit of parsley to meals, according to some experts. In fact, these experts advise adding it to food on a daily basis. This goes wonderfully with fish, beef, lemon zest, and mint.

Many people say that using these healthy spices has been extremely beneficial to overall health and well being. However, none of the spices listed are proven to help prevent, treat or cure any disease or injury.
