We're living in an environment of great technological and industrial advancement. We've got planes and cars that conveniently carry us from place to place; we also have computers and mobile devices that virtually take us from place to place. On the flip side many of these wonderful inventions have generated more pollution and radiations that create free radicals in the body.

What's free radical and how does it alter my body?

Your body is composed of many molecule types and free radical is one. Free radical is a molecule with unpaired electron. It will try to take an electron from other molecules. When this happens a lot, it may lead to serious sicknesses. A lot of free radicals can be a source of lots of health conditions such as cancer, heart disease, bad cholesterol and arthritis.

So how does one deal with free radicals?

Antioxidants are what you need in order to neutralize free radicals. It is important that your body has enough antioxidants. This means you need to consume antioxidants everyday.

Veggies and fruits such as broccoli, strawberry, kiwi, papaya, spinach and bell pepper are a great source for antioxidants. It is because these foods contain a considerable amount of vitamins C and E.

Is there another source of antioxidants other than vitamins C and E?

Researchers are saying Epigallocatechin or often called EGCG is a better source of antioxidant than vitamins C and E. Most experts agree that EGCG is 100 times more effective than Vitamin C and 25 times more effective than Vitamin E in eliminating free radicals.

EGCG is found in green tea. A cup of green tea has about 100mg of EGCG. Including green tea to your nutrition everyday is a great idea to improve the overall intake of antioxidants.

So if you are like many Americans. If you haven't been able maintain eating sufficient antioxidants daily, consider taking green tea supplements. In many cases, ease of use is really a factor why you could not stay up with a healthy program. So you should research more about tea and start living healthier.
