Color Your Palate

Amazing things happen when you go for healthier choices. These recipes start with a splash of colors from the food pyramid: red, yellow, orange, violet, white and green, ensuring that everybody in the family gets an abundant heaping of vitamins and minerals straight out of your kitchen.


Light on the pocket but heavy on nutrition, you will surely find something to rejoice about in these easy-to-prepare and delicious meals.

Eat them seated around a table or take them with you on the go; these four special recipes are meant to be shared and enjoyed in the company of people you love.


GRILLED CHICKEN IN MILK MARINADE
Healthy chicken dish made creamier by a mouth watering marinade.

You will need:


1 liter             Nestle Fresh
1/4 cup          chopped garlic
1 tbsp            paprika
                     Salt and pepper to taste
1 8g              Maggi Magic Sarap
1.4 cup         soy sauce
1/2 cup         brown sugar
1/4 cup         chopped ginger
1 kg              chicken cut into serving pieces
                     Cooking oil for basting

Here's how:


1. Make the marinade by combining all of the ingredients except chicken in a bowl and cooking oil. Mix well.

2. Marinate chicken for 15-20 minutes. Grill marinated chicken while basting with oil for at least 10 minutes on each side or until cooked thoroughly.

3. Serve with your favorite salad, mashed potatoes or rice.


COOKIES & MILK FUN DRINK
A sweet and nutritious drink for the young and young at heart.

You will need:


1//2 cup             Nido Fortified Full Cream Milk
1 cup                 crushed choco cream filled cookies
                          Sugar to taste
2 cup                 crushed ice
                          Cold water as needed

Here's how:


1. Combine milk, cookies, sugar and ice in a blender jar. Add water to adjust into desired consistency.

2. Transfer on individual serving glasses to serve.


GRILLED VEGGIES & CHEESE PASTA
Good for the heart and filling to the soul, the perfect treat to veggie dairy lovers.

You will need:


1                    cucumber, seeded, skin on, sliced into 4
2 pcs              eggplant, sliced into 4
2 pcs              onion, cut into halves
1/4 cup           Balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp             olive oil
1 tbsp             Maggi Magic Sarap
                       Salt & pepper to taste
2 tbsp             olive oil
2 tbsp             minced garlic
300 g              cooked penne pasta
1 cup              tomato sauce
1 250 ml         Nestle All Purpose Cream
1/4 tsp            dried oregano to taste (optional)
                       chili flakes to taste
1/2 cup            mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup            quick melt cheese

Here's how:


1. Marinate cucumber, eggplant and onion in vinegar, olive oil, Maggi Magic Sarap and salt and pepper for 5 minutes. Grill marinated vegetables for 30 seconds on each side. Set aside.

2. Heat olive oil. Saute' garlic until fragrant. Add prepared vegetables then the pasta.

3. Pour in tomato sauce and cream. Season with oregano and chili flakes. Add more cream if mixture is too dry.

4. Transfer on an over proof dish. Top with cheeses and broil for 10-15 minutes or until cheese melts.


CHICKEN SALPICAO WITH MASHED POTATOES
Delicious chicken strips stir-fried with a lot of garlic, topped with mashed potato.

You will need:


2 tbsp             olive oil
1/2 cup           minced garlic
1/2 kg             chicken breast fillet, sliced into thin strips
1/4 cup           water
3 tbsp             Maggi Savor, Classic
1/2 kg             potatoes, boiled and mashed
1/4 cup           butter, softened
3/4 cup           Nestle D' Lite Cream
                       salt and pepper to taste

Here's how:

1. Heat oil and fry garlic over low heat until golden brown. Remove fried garlic, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the pan.

2. In the same pan, add chicken and season with Maggi Savor, Classic.

3. Pour in water and cook chicken until tender. Transfer into an 8x8 square pyrex dish. Top with the reserved fried garlic. Set aside.

4. To make mashed potato, combine the remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly until evenly blended and smooth.

5. Cover chicken salpicao with layers of mashed potato. Serve immediately or broil for 15 minutes in the oven until mashed potato is golden brown.
