Check out The Herb Center and Addington Co-op Cafes in Christchurch

By Daniel Hogan

The Herb Centre; This wonderful location is composed of a lovely corner cafe that provides primarily veggie treats (there is just one carnivorous option in the menus...) and brews the New Zealand Coffee Awards 2009-10 Gold Award winning, New Brighton-based Switch Espresso.

It is also an amazingly stocked dispensary/ health retailer that holds an array of natural supplements, organic body goods and every essential oil conceivable, a backyard garden in addition to a health care clinic which offers midwifery services, natural addiction treatment solution, and herbal and naturopathic medication. Phew. You'll find it fundamentally the only one-stop-shop for the granola sect within the complete city (that we know, anyway...if your business is one, too, make sure you email us!). It's an alternative style cafe Christchurch should really be satisfied with!

The area, found on Kilmore St, is fittingly relaxing, having hard wood floors, large, exposed windows that bathe the place in angelic light, along with the tranquilizing scents of lavender and patchouli. It is perfectly one of a kind (peep the lovable as images of grooving eggs around the chalkboard wall menus!) plus the foods are fresh and wonderful, try the GF, dairy free Winter Root Veg Cake, it absolutely was a hit around my moderately veggie family. Come summer season, I think the garden will likely be loaded with revellers searching for a tranquil area to relax having a cup plus a socially mindful slice.

Addington Coffee Co-op; Positioned on Lincoln Rd, fundamental to Addington village, Addington Coffee Co-op is a quaintly deluxe, natural light filled cafe and roastery that spins Blondie, roasts and peddles their very own brand of Fair Trade (and DELICIOUS) coffee and feels like your living room (if you're the type of person whose living room provides a pitch-perfect amount of subtle kitsch and also the most influencing ambience in the street).

The organization, encased in a sizeable former mechanics working area, needed 9 months to make their own and earthquake proof (that was lucky!) and it is loaded to the brim no matter what hours with an contemporary blend of fresh neo-hipsters, chatty stay-at-home-mums and expensive looking suits attempting to get an inviting spot for a lunch time conference plus a excellent, freshly produced slice, pastry or sandwich. Along with ultra cool and knowledgeable usage of Fair Trade coffee, furthermore they promote "organic threads" made by survivors of the sex-trade in Calcutta

And so, to recap: the coffee is superb, their decor is flawless in addition their business techniques are morally righteous. Need I say more?
