Getting educated about the right cooking techniques to use may seem to be quite overwhelming. You are sure to use the tips and information that is in the article to help you in your culinary learning experience. Absorb the information that is included and include it to your cooking methods and prepare a meal that you are sure to love.

A great cooking tip is to spray your pan with oil before you cook with it. Spraying the pan with oil will make it so that the food doesn't stick to the pan. Trying to clean a pan with food stuck on it can be very frustrating and time consuming.

Use oils for flavor. When using oil in uncooked sauces or dressing, be sure to use a high quality oil. The flavor of regular cooking oil will ruin your dish. Extra-virgin olive oil, with its fruity flavor, is a must for uncooked sauces or raw tomato sauce. A green salad will benefit from a simple dressing of extra-virgin olive oil and vinegar. Hazelnut and walnut oil have a delicate flavor that is suitable for 'light' sauces and dressings.

Never try a new recipe or any type of new ingredient when cooking for someone that you want to impress. You don't want to get it wrong when the stakes are important. If your boss is coming to your dinner party, play it safe by making something that you already know will be fabulous.

To make it easier to peel boiled eggs, run them under cold water immediately after removing from them the stove. Once they are cool enough to touch, tap them lightly to crack and roll on a counter. Once you begin peeling and have an opening in the shell, run this under cold water and you will find the rest of the shell will peel off with the greatest of ease!

When freezing foods like soups, vegetables, and sauces, place the foods into resealable freezer bags and lay them flat in the freezer. When the foods freeze, they will remain flat, allowing you to easily stack them and maximize the space in your freezer. The foods will also thaw faster, since the surface area of the food is maximized.

Mushrooms discolor fast and they don't look too appetizing when you serve them. You can prevent discoloration by following this technique. Squeeze the juice of a quarter lemon onto a paper towel and wipe the cap of each mushroom with it. This cleans the mushroom and prevents it from changing its original color.

Put food into a hot pan instead of trying to cook it while the pan is still cold. The pan should already be at the desired temperature before you start cooking. This will ensure that the food is cooked evenly and thoroughly. You want to see the steam rising off the pan when you start cooking.

When you are making mashed potatoes, you need to be extra careful and make sure not to whip them for too long. While it might seem that mixing them for longer would make them smoother, it actually has an opposite effect. Doing so actually makes them come out gummy in texture.

Olive oil is any cook's best friend. It is a very versatile ingredient and is, opposed to what many people think, not limited to just Italian cuisine. Stir fried dishes and any dish in which you would ordinarily use butter can be made better tasting and healthier when olive oil is used.

Here is a cooking tip that will make your life easier on nights and weekends. When cooking, save any sauces leftover from cooking by pouring them into ice cube trays. When you need to use the sauce cubes, simply pop them out of the tray and reheat them in a sauce pan for a quick sauce without all of the cook time.

Home cooking can save you money. Restaurant and fast food costs can quickly add up. By cooking in quantity and freezing leftovers for later, you can really save money. By using the tips in this article, you can add to your cooking repertoire, and put that extra money towards something you really need.
