People are typically quick to assume that only vegans or vegetarians will choose to follow a gluten free diet as part of a lifestyle choice. However, they may not realize that by following a gluten free diet you can help improve your health tremendously.

Often doctors will require that their patients who suffer from digestive disorders follow this type of diet. This diet can also help with loss of balance, brain fog, and other disorders that are neurological.

The studies done by the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Program have discovered that if more people adopted the gluten free way of life and avoided foods all together then they would be able to avoid digestive problems and celiac disease. Therefore, they are stating that one out of every 133 adults in the U.S. suffers from celiac disease and the digestive problems that follow by simply eating foods containing gluten.

Other people who suffer form seizures, loss of balance, cognitive problems and Types 1 and 2 diabetes will also benefit from a gluten free diet. Further studies found that those suffering these conditions may have increase gluten sensitivity because of infections, genetics and the function of their liver.

The foods you will need to avoid when following a gluten free diet are things such as wheat, rye, barely, oats and spelt. You will also want to avoid food products that contain these ingredients. You will also need to avoid drinking beer and eating pastas, grains and cereals.

People that are on a gluten diet may have certain foods such as rice, soy and bean flour. Due to the concern about gluten farmers who grow wheat and grains are becoming increasingly aware of how much gluten is in the product they offer.

Farmers are not the only ones who are concerned with gluten enriched foods. Other companies are also considering how they will be able to market these products so that the taste and quality is being improved in gluten free products.
