How To Prepare Coleslaw

If you want to have a healthy meal full of vitamins and other important nutrients, eating vegetable salad can be quite beneficial. Mayonnaise based Coleslaw is the ultimate option for such needs. 'Coleslaw' is the word derived from a Dutch word 'Koolsla', 'Kool' stands for cabbage and 'sla' stands for salad.



Mostly health conscious people go for this dish because of its rich vitamin contents. However, the primary ingredient of Coleslaw is shredded cabbage, and many people add different other vegetables as well depending upon taste and availability. While many people prefer the traditional Coleslaw recipe using mayonnaise dressing, there are other variations of the recipe using other vegetables as well.

Here we will learn the traditional style of preparing Coleslaw using mayonnaise dressing. The ingredients required for the recipe comprises of: cabbage, green onion, carrot, yellow mustard, mayonnaise and pepper. As far as the cabbage you can use either green or purple cabbage or both for additional color. The recipe is easy to prepare and doesn't take much time. It is usually served as a side dish along with the meal.

We will now learn about the methodology to prepare the dish. Take a cabbage and cut a half of its head. Then thinly slice it with the help of a mandolin. Slice about 4 cups of cabbage. Then thinly slice some green onions and finely julienne half of a carrot.

In the next step we will add 3 tablespoons of Hellman's Mayonnaise and half a teaspoon of yellow mustard. Then we mix the chopped cabbage, onion and carrot altogether. At last we will add some pepper to give it a kick. To get the utmost flavor of your preferred Coleslaw, only rely on Hellman's Mayonnaise for top quality salad dressing.
