1. 50 to 55% of your diet should be carbohydrates. It is a myth that you should try and avoid carbohydrates when you are on a diet. Rather the other way round I should say. Carbohydrates are a ready source of energy and so 50 to 55% of your diet should b

2. Have 25 to 30% of your diet to be proteins. Proteins are important to many functions of the body, such as building muscle and repairing tissue. For your body to be strong and recover, you will need a good amount of protein in your diet.

3. Fats should be no more than 15 to 20% of your diet. This should be the minimal amount of fat you need so keep it around this percentage.

4. Try and adopt a vegetarian diet. A diet consisting of vegetables is much healthier and better when watching one's weight. There are many advantages to a vegetarian diet, but it is not strict necessity. My recommendation is to keep to a vegetarian diet as much as you can. Make eating meats an occasion once per week or on weekends if possible.

5. Choose white meat over red. White meat, which includes fish and poultry, is much better than red meat, primarily beef and pork, for those trying to lose weight.

6. Multigrain breads are also better than white breads, since they are higher in fiber and protein. Making this substitution is a great way to add some fiber and a little extra protein into your diet.

7. Reduce your pork consumption. Pork is a meat that generally will not help you lose weight, so reducing your intake may help you lose weight. This is often due to the fact that many pork products are high in fat, such as bacon, ham, and sausage.

8. Manage your sugar intake. If you are craving for some sweets, try to find sugar substitutes, which are just as sweet but don't have as many calories.

9. Graze 5 to 6 times a day. What do I mean by grazing? Grazing is having 5 or 6 smaller meals instead of three large meals, which is a great way to consume smaller quantities of food.

10. Cheat on your diet, but only once in a while and only for something that is worth it. You will need to cut down on many foods throughout your diet, but inevitably there will be some cravings. You don't have to rid your diet of them completely, but only give in to them every so often. Also, cheat does not mean to binge eat - just have the taste that you have been missing but don't stuff yourself. The best way to enjoy this little indulgence is to share it with friends, which will make it more enjoyable and also prevent you from over-indulging.

  1. Your tips were just perfect. I will surely keep this in mind, especially the one in number 10. I thought, cheat day means the liberty to eat just anything you want. And oh, you hit it right- you just have to have a taste of it. Well said.
