English: Benedictine or Benedictine Spread is a condiment made with cucumbers and cream cheese. It was invented around the turn of the 20th century by Jennie Carter Benedict, a caterer and restaurateur in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Originally used for sandwiches, benedictine has in recent years been used as a dip for chips and filling for potatoes (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |

You can widen your imagine and turn it into a reality by elevating an onion-and-chive-flavored cream cheese spread by adding tiny bits of chorizo and mushroom. Add half a teaspoon of onion powder if you prefer a stronger onion flavor. Then spread this on your favorite cracker or toasted bread.
You will need:
1 piece chorizo de Bilbao, finely chopped
1 can mushroom pieces and stems, finely chopped
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and white pepper to taste
2 tubs onion-and-chive-flavored cream cheese spread
½ cup cream cheese, softened
½ cup heavy cream
Here’s how:
1) Saute’ chorizo and mushrooms in butter. Add paprika, then season
with salt and pepper. Cool.
2) Whip together flavored spread and cream cheese until smooth and
fluffy. Add heavy cream then fold in the chorizo mixture. Serve with bread or
crackers.
